Our Finishes - Features Of An Edenlane Home
Each and every Edenlane home is born out of the creative mind of Gary Clark, company President and Architectural Technologist. No two homes are alike and all the design and construction work is customized to the specific needs of our individual clients. However, there are some reccurring finishes that allow anyone to identify an Edenlane home at a glance. Quality, craftsmanship, and precision thinking are evident in every detail. The final product is a cohesive image that we like to call “home”. For more information on our finishes, please EMAIL US.

THE OVERALL PICTURE
A dramatic statement is made as soon as you drive up to an Edenlane home. Stunning trim work enhances the architectural details. The eye is naturally drawn to the intricate roofline and façade details. Yet, at the same time, the colour and traditional styling of the home blend unobtrusively with the natural environment.
ROOFLINES
Twelve-twelve pitches create a dramatic look from the exterior. A complex configuration of gables and dormers adds to the architectural appeal. These roofs are not just aesthetically appealing, they are also functional – directing water flow effectively. From the inside, sweeping cathedral ceilings entertain the eye.
GABLES AND DORMERS
Dormers and gables provide visual interest and grace to a roof. Gables and dormers are desirable details because they add a traditional style to new homes. Functionally, they add light and extra height to upstairs rooms. In conjunction with gables, dormers add to the complexity and aesthetic appeal of the roofline.
WINDOWS
Windows are one of the most important design elements of a home. They provide both a view of the outdoors from the inside and aesthetic appeal from the outside. Window choice can also impact the operating cost and energy use of a home. Lighter trim around the windows draws attention to their unusual design, demonstrating an extraordinary attention to detail.
ATTACHED GARAGES
Attached garages are a popular and convenient feature of the modern home. However, there is no need for ugly garages to dominate the façades of houses. Garages can be built perpendicular to the front of the home, incorporating a charming breezeway. If a garage at the front of the home is desirable, gables subdue the boxy nature of the typical garage design and help the feature blend seamlessly with the rest of the façade.
WOOD SIDING
Wood siding makes a bold and elegant statement and is available in a myriad of colours. Outstanding manufactures’ warranties guarantee that your home will look great for years. Today’s wood products are the perfect choice for people wanting the traditional look and feel with minimal maintenance. The natural product and subdued colour palate blend seamlessly with the natural environment.
MUSKOKA ROOMS
A Muskoka room is a sunroom with ample windows and seating. With windows along three sides of the Muskoka room, summer entertaining is a breeze. However, many Muskoka rooms have fireplaces, insulation, and in-floor radiant heating to allow for year-round use. Imagine the holiday season celebrated in a room with a panoramic view of undisturbed snow and winter wildlife.
STONEWORK
A thought synonymous with Muskoka is that of sweeping granite outcrops. Gray, pink, brown, and orange hues of the rock mingle with the green of native trees and plants. Many people choose to build on the natural character of the landscape by incorporating stonework into their homes. Stonework can function as decorative detailing for both the interior and exterior of a home.
ENTRANCEWAYS
Your entranceway is the place that greets your guests and welcomes you home. It should make a strong hospitable statement that will attract people to the front door. A combination of stonework, columns, decorative doors, porches, windows, and lighting blend together to create a welcoming, safe, and approachable atmosphere.
COLUMNS
Columns can define space, create drama, and add to the existing architectural appeal. A bold statement is made by these columns alongside the entranceway. The colour choice matches the decorative trim and highlights the wood siding.
DECKING
Decking is often the focal point of the lakeside or yardside of a home. Decks should be large enough to entertain groups, yet cozy enough for candlelit dinners for two. Replacing the balusters with glass inserts allows guests to appreciate an unobstructed view, even when seated. There are now a multitude of material choices for decks from wood to composites.
DETAILS
A true Edenlane home can be recognized anywhere. Why? Because of the details. We believe that small touches like cultured stone, cedar wood, stone pillars, and coach lamps add to the value and aesthetic appeal of any home. Using natural colours, these details stand out without seeming showy or out of place.
ACCENTS
Decorative gable trusses are one of the most frequently used accents by Edenlane Homes. This simple touch says “I take pride in my home and understand the value of fine craftsmanship.” Similarly, ornamental cupolas can add interest to even the most functional structures such as garages, sleeping cabins, and barns.
